Q : Briefly tell us about your company, it’s history and what kind of services do you offer?

A : Blackheart Productions started out 11 years ago as a design company that helped the music scene with screen-printing, CD design and Tour Design Collateral for record companies across California. Working with bands and large tours throughout the United States to set the standard for what todays musicians were looking for. Blackheart Productions took an international leap with a band from Norway in 2010, travelled through Japan and found its way to Australia. Working with some of Australia’s well-known beauty brands for logo creation, packaging design, project management and marketing concepts. With this change, the company began to branch out working with the YMCA for their corporate design concepts and would help to create the look and feel of new centers. Relocating back to California early 2012, Blackheart Productions is branching out once again working internationally and locally with their modern edge.

Q : Where did the name Blackheart Productions come from?

A : It was like an old email address that was made when I was 12 that never died. We are kind of glad it didn’t!

Q : Your design inspires us, what inspires you?

A : What inspires us is the modern edge with a different look. Utilizing tools that would require someone to think outside the box. We like the “well that’s different!”

Q : You added an oversized black foiling area to the front of your design, why did you select this finishing?

A : When designing this card it was not meant for the logo to stand out but to only be there in a creative way. Something that would make the average person look twice and say “What’s that?” Using the oversized black foiling area we were able to create that interesting effective look.

Q : The metallic stock with the dark background adds a really cool rustic metallic look. Are you interested in any other finishing’s or stocks MorningPrint has to offer?

A : We do love the look that the metallic stock gives, it provides a metal grunge feel without disabling the corporate aspect of the company. I would actually recreate this card with the Spot UV or Raised Ink with the newer black stock to see what dramatics that could offer. I would like to use to hologram foil in a design soon. I don’t know what for, just for reasons I guess.

Q : Any tips for our clients to consider when they are creating their business cards?

A : Don’t let your business cards be boring. Say who you are with a bold statement!

Q : Did you experience any difficulties when using MorningPrint.com, or find anything to be inconvenient or inefficient? Any suggestions you can offer us to help make the customer experience better?

A : We haven’t had any problems. We’ve used Morning Print overseas and in the US and all our customers are just fascinated with the quality and character that is provided in their cards.

If your foiling or embossing option is larger than 40mm x 20mm, please consider the following:

Our Machines need space to hold two corners of the card at 3mm from the trim line / 5mm from the document size.

*Overesized foiling / embossing areas will be subject to an oversized finishing fee that will be requested after the initial order has been submitted.

Business Card Design of the Month: March 2012

Hello! Here at MorningPrint, we receive many amazing designs, and we really enjoy seeing the creative process the designers go through. Interview:

Q : Briefly tell us about your company, it’s history and what kind of services do you offer?

A : Nickel Creative is a small graphic design company offering branding, web and online marketing services. We specialize in custom WordPress sites and logo creation.

Q : Your design inspires us, what inspires you?

A : Other design, people and places. simply walking down the street! I try to pay close attention to what is happening around me because inspiration can be drawn from almost anywhere. I frequent countless design blogs as well as sites like dribbble and Behance to stay fresh.

Q : The front side of your card has a great worn and aged feel, and the backside you included a fully bled raised ink design that provides a wonderful texture, how did you come up with this concept?

A : The “Nickel” on the front of the card is my rough interpretation of an old shield nickel (image below) which was first introduced in 1866. The shield nickel was the first five cent denomination struck in nickel. I wanted to carry an aged feeling throughout the card and my brand, so texture was used to help accomplish this.

Q : Any thoughts on the stock and finishing you selected? Are you interested in any other finishing’s or stocks MorningPrint has to offer?

A : I’ve placed orders for raised ink and foil cards and I’ve been happy with each. I’ll be trying the emboss at some point as well. MorningPrint’s pricing structure allows anyone to experiment with what would normally be cost prohibitive finishing effects.

Q : Any tips for our clients to consider when they are creating their business cards?

A : Try to be unique with your design because that first impression really counts! Search the web for inspiration, there are hundreds of sites that feature some truly amazing business card designs. Then, call me for help with putting your ideas together into your own powerful design that will blow people away!

Q : Did you experience any difficulties when using MorningPrint.com, or find anything to be inconvenient or inefficient? Any suggestions you can offer us to help make the customer experience better?

A : An InDesign template would be helpful for new customers who prefer to lay out their work in that way. Maybe I’ll let you have mine.

Black Raied Ink VS Clear Raised Ink:

Raised ink uses a special process called ‘Epoxy’. It is similar to UV spot coating but has more raised effect.

This clear substance will be applied over designate printed area and creating unique raised effect on the business card surface.

There are two types of raised ink: black and clear. If the requested area for raised ink is 100% black we use the black raised ink. If the requested area for raised ink has other colors a clear epoxy is used.

Suggested raised ink: MorningPrint suggests using the Raised ink Option with all 100% black text on white stock as the black ink has a more precise effect.

Hey guys! Happy March to you all, the year seems to be chugging by quickly it seems like 2012 just started but here we are mid March. So much has been going on here, we have introduced our black paper stock, change the website layout, updated our file uploading system etc. All in all 2012 has been off to a great productive start.  It is our goal to make MorningPrint as user friendly as possible while offering you the best products.

As a small growing company we understand that life is not just about business but that there is a bigger picture out there. One of our new year’s resolutions this year was to reach out and give back.  The more we grow the more we want to give. As members of the Irvine Chamber of Commerce we were able to get in touch with a couple Make-A-Wish representatives. Since then we have been able to partner with them by offering our services to help promote their organization.

About Make-A-Wish:

The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Orange County and the Inland Empire is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and fulfill the wishes for children between the ages of 2 1/2 and 18 who confront life-threatening medical conditions.

Granting wishes helps these children find the hope they need to transform their life-threatening illnesses into life-affirming triumphs. Formed in 1983, the chapter has fulfilled the wishes of more than 3,500 children.

We would like to ask you to join us in making a difference with Make-A-Wish. Please visit their website for more information on how you can change a life: www.wishecie.org

Above you will see a postcard that we recently printed:

This post card was printed on our star dream stock which is also great for wedding invitations. These post cards will be used for brides to be, giving them ideas how their special day can make a child’s special dream come true.

If you are a bride to be or maybe you know a bride to be here are a few ways you can help:

In Lieu of Gifts: Consider asking your guests to donate to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Orange County and the Inland Empire in lieu of purchasing wedding gifts.

Wedding Favors: Your guest won’t quickly forget your generosity when they see that you have made a donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in their honor.

Charity Gift Registry: By creating a gift registry with the I Do Foundation, up to 10% of your guests’ gift purchases from partnering stores will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Make-A-Wish Money Dance: Have your DJ announce that all the money raised during your money dance will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Sell your Dress: Thinking of selling your dress after the big day? Why not donate the proceeds to the Foundation? It’s a great way to give your dress even more meaning.

Gift Cards and Toys: Instead of wedding gifts, ask your guests to bring gift cards or unwrapped toys to your bridal shower or wedding.

Together we can make a difference!

Got an email from our client Alex who is very happy with his cards, he sent us this picture with us to share! :)
